Top Three Performers Hail from Norwalk, Connecticut!

May 9, 2018, Norwalk, CT: This past winter, eighty eager and talented performers took to the stage of Norwalk’s newly revitalized Wall Street Theater, embarking on a showbiz journey aptly named “Connecticut’s Got Talent”. The riveting month-long production had audience members and judges laughing, foot-stomping, and cheering on contestants as they left it all on that stage. The March 2nd finale not only set the winners on an upwards career trajectory, it solidified the Wall Street Theater’s standing as a premiere and ground-breaking next-gen entertainment venue.

On Friday, May 18, first place winner, singer-songwriter Riki Stevens headlines Connecticut’s Got Talent – The Winners Show, along with runner-up talent, magician TJ Salta, and songwriter-rapper Khalil Williams. The massive talent show competition attracted up-and-coming performers from across the state. But when all was said and done, the top 3 acts to emerge victorious turned out to all be from Norwalk, CT! Yes, that’s right – Norwalk’s Got Talent!

One can describe the music of Riki Stevens as pop-soul, a reflection of her many musical influences.  Growing up as the shy girl, Riki found her confidence and her voice through a southern Baptist church singing gospel music which led her to other genres such as jazz and contemporary Christian music. Riki settled into her own unique sound and is currently working on several projects with a diverse group of artists and musical styles, such as rap artist Pharoahe Monch, for which her vocals will be featured on his new album. Riki performed original songs during the CTGT shows, proving her undeniable talent.

Referred to as a magical prodigy by many, 17-year-old TJ Salta has taken Connecticut by storm, receiving widespread acclaim and performing regularly throughout the tri-state area. Renowned for his passionate and charismatic style, he is most known for his engaging close-up magic and mind-boggling mentalism.

22-year-old Khalil Williams began writing music in high school.  Unsure of the path he wanted to pursue upon graduating, he says his experience with entering the "Connecticut's Got Talent" competition has made him realize his potential more than ever and is looking forward to pursuing his dream of becoming a professional rap artist.

Artistic director Billy Blanks, Jr., who did not hold back on providing constructive criticism, recalls “It was so touching to see that moment where it all clicked - Riki the exquisite soul-folk singer, TJ Salta the teenage magician with a stage presence to rival today’s biggest stars, and Khalil, the diamond in the rough young rapper that stole everyone’s hearts.” Blanks says the audience will be able to see these performers in their truest form, with no audition jitters, just them as winners doing what they love.
